Live-In Care (Around the Clock Care) Includes Both Personal and Companion Care
**This is the best option if client requires someone to always be in the home and constantly “on call” **
The major benefit of the live-in service is the dramatic reduction of cost for one-on-one care.
A live-in caregiver would be required to work a 16-hour shift. During the 16 hours, the caregiver is allowed one full meal break (1 hour) and two additional breaks (30 minutes). 8 hours of sleeping time is also included in live-in scenario. The caregiver is expected to be "on call" at all times and offer some flexibility with his or her down time and/or sleep time to accommodate the needs of the patient. In the live-in situation, the family is also required to provide a room and board for the caregiver.
